Real Estate and Public Education

Michael Goodman of the UMass Donahue Institute was on Lowell Sunrise this morning to discuss a recent survey that indicates a gradual slowing and modest decline in the real estate market. When asked about Lowell's booming condo market, Goodman pointed out that a lot of people are buying condos because they can't afford to get into a single-family house. He ended with saying that if Lowell wants to keep it's housing and condo market strong for the next couple of years, it's important to improve the public schools. Finally someone who gets it - there is a real connection between the quality of the public schools and the health of the real estate market! Now, if only some city councillors were listening!
