The No Child Left Behind law has thrust the federal government into local education policy. It's ironic that a conservative administration that on almost every other issue, wants to reduce the federal government's role, is presiding over the most intrusive federal education program ever. We hope that much of the debate in this fall's presidential election will concern education policy. We know where the president stands.
